Essential Tech Gifts
Portable Phone Charger
No one wants a dead phone, especially when you’re out all day. A compact, portable charger is a lifesaver. Go for ones with fast-charging capabilities. These are designed to quickly boost your device’s battery life, so you’re back to full power in no time—perfect for days when power is intentionally cut off (because of a hurricane or what not). Bonus points if it’s lightweight and fits easily in your bag or pocket.
Bluetooth Earbuds
Whether it’s listening to music or attending online classes, Bluetooth earbuds are super practical for students. Look for pairs that offer noise cancellation and a good battery life. You can get some good quality earbuds without spending a fortune.
USB Flash Drive
While cloud storage is common, a USB drive is still handy for quick file transfers. Look for ones with good storage (at least 32GB) so students can keep important files safe.
Comfort and Relaxation Gifts
Weighted Blanket
A weighted blanket can reduce stress and help with better sleep, making it an awesome gift for any student facing long study hours and exam stress. I love these the most when I’m feeling sick and get the chills—especially during the colder months. If you have a friend who gets cold easily, weighted blankets are an awesome choice!
Comfy Slippers or Socks
There’s nothing like slipping into something warm and soft to stay comfortable, especially when those floors get chilly! Trust me, a gift like this is something they’ll use every single day. Plus, they’re super easy to find, and there are tons of cute options to choose from—fun colors, patterns, even ones with little animal faces!
Essential Oil Diffuser
Dorm rooms can feel stuffy. An essential oil diffuser can freshen the air and help with relaxation. Lavender, peppermint, or eucalyptus oils are super calming and are some of my favorite scents. You can get a full set of inexpensive essential oils here.
Please avoid them though if you have pets in the same room—they may be dangerous for pets like dogs or cats.
Fun and Practical School Supplies
Planner or Bullet Journal
Many students use planners to keep their studies and life organized. Look for ones with simple layouts or creative sections like habit tracking. I would also go for an undated planner like this one—so they can use it any time of the year.
I’ve fallen into the trap of purchasing planners that I ended up not using mid-year. Undated planners are the key!
High-Quality Notebooks
High-quality notebooks are always welcome. Personally, even though I have a bunch of empty notebooks sitting on my shelf, I always appreciate new notebooks especially if they’re cute and great to write on.
Opt for ones with thick paper, which prevents ink from bleeding, and a sturdy cover for durability. I like this one because it doubles as a journal.
Sticky Note Collection
Sticky notes in various colors and sizes are great for note-taking or quick reminders. They’re simple yet super practical for any student. I personally would greatly appreciate this gift as it is very useful and I will certainly use it every day!
Food & Snack Essentials Make for Great Last-Minute Gifts!
Coffee Gift Card
Most college students run on caffeine. A coffee shop gift card gives them a quick caffeine fix during study breaks or morning classes.
Coffee companies like Starbucks has gift cards that you can purchase for your friends, making them perfect last-minute gifts for caffeine-addicted college students (from $10 to any amount). You can read more about gift cards here.
Snack Box Subscription
A snack box subscription filled with chips, granola bars, and healthier options is a fun gift. These boxes are great because they’re filled with variety and usually budget-friendly.
Microwaveable Meals
Quick meals are lifesavers, especially during finals. Look for high-quality microwaveable meals like mac and cheese cups or ramen noodles with a bit more flavor. Quick note: I don’t recommend processed food on a daily basis, but let’s face it, sometimes, hunger strikes, and they’re the easiest (and fastest) to prepare.
Personal Care and Wellness
Self-Care Kit
Self-care kits with face masks, mini lotions, and aromatherapy rollers offer a great way to unwind. You could even make a DIY version and personalize it with their favorite scents.

Reusable Water Bottle
Keeping hydrated is key! A high-quality reusable water bottle is practical and eco-friendly. Insulated ones keep drinks cold all day, perfect for life on and off campus, and especially during scorching summer months.
Portable Hand Sanitizer
This small but useful gift is perfect for college students moving between classes. I love purchasing them in packs so I never run out. Sometimes, I have to eat on the go and there isn’t a washroom in sight. So portable sanitizers are a good alternative because they dry quickly, and keep your hands clean(er).
Subscription Services for College Students
Streaming Service Subscription
Between classes, students love to unwind with their favorite shows or movies—at least I do! So I had to include this here. A streaming subscription (from Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, or Disney+) is an ideal gift to help them relax during study breaks.
Music Streaming Subscription
I can’t get through a week without listening to a podcast—you can learn so much! I get my fix through Spotify, where you can find affordable student deals. You can read more about this here.
Meal Kit Subscription
Cooking in a dorm can be challenging, but meal kits with easy-to-make recipes simplify the process. You can check out Gobble and see if they deliver in your area.
